About Us: Achievements
- Created a model early childhood center in Cranberry (Venango County) through a $1.2 million capital project.
- All preschool centers are NAEYC accredited.
- All 4 Child Development Centers are Star 4 centers through Keystone Stars Program.
- Child Development Centers, Inc. operates a fleet of 7 buses to ensure safe, reliable afterschool care in all 4 Venango County school districts from 10 schools located rurally and within the city limits of the districts.
- Successfully fulfilled the requirements of approximately $5 million in grants through foundations such as the Richard King Mellon Foundation, PA Department of Education, Edward & Jessie Peters Charitable Trust, the Grable Foundation, Samuel Justus Charitable Trust, Dr. & Mrs. Phillips Charitable Trust and National City Bank.
- Accepted the Creative Curriculum as the formal curriculum and use creative curriculum.net as an assessment tool.
- Awarded approximately $300,000 in awards for fulfilling the requirements of Keystone Stars at all
4 facilities over the past 4 years.
- Board of Directors continues to expand its expertise and has accomplished filling seats from all four school districts as well as a physician and attorney.
- Agency has been the recipient of a number of awards from the Chamber of Commerce for expanding our operations within the community.
- Agency took the lead and created a Parenting Program for Venango County on behalf of our community’s collaborative board. We have successfully expanded this program over the past 5 years to serve more than 700 parents as a means to help improve the parenting skills within the community.
- Agency operates a juvenile delinquency prevention program on behalf of Venango County Human Services Department to help 8-12 year old children build a skill including such things as basketball, gymnastics and musical instruments. This program has been operated by Child Development Centers, Inc. for the past four years.
- Five of our staff members have completed the requirements to be PQAS trainers for Pennsylvania Early Learning Keys to Quality in order to assist in training needs for Venango and surrounding counties.
- The Guardian Angel Scholarship Fund, which is supported by the Samuel Justus Charitable Trust, has helped over 60 children access our services.
- A kindergarten transition plan meeting is held each August to officially discuss curriculum ideas and enhance preschool quality
with all local school districts.
- Child Development Centers, Inc. is the observation site for early childhood and nursing students from Clarion University of Pennsylvania.
- Actively participates in the T.E.A.C.H. Program and have staff members obtaining their Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education.
- Child Development Centers, Inc. works with local high schools and serves as a site for Vocational Technical students to obtain employment in early childhood.
- We participate in the Educational Improvement Tax Credit offered by the state of Pennsylvania. Businesses who pay a certain tax to the State of Pennsylvania are eligible to participate in the program.
