Health and Wellness Program
Child Development Centers, Inc. has a "Fun Fitness Program" for preschool
children in Venango County. The purpose of this program is to improve
physical fitness levels for children who attend CDC. The program has
purchased gym equipment that is used to carry out curriculum and program
objectives and make helpful literature available to parents. Venango
County is experiencing a high level of health risks associated with obesity such
as childhood diabetes and heart conditions.
This program will provide extra support to gym classes in our school districts
and help preschool children develop good habits early in life. A full-time
gym teacher travels to the Venango County CDC site each week. Children
participate in organized gym class with the teacher.
