Child Development Centers, Inc. school age programs all have lead teachers with degrees in Early Childhood Education or related fields such as Elementary Education, or Special Education. Child Development Centers, Inc. exceeds the state’s licensing requirements in this area to promote quality. Additionally, some assistant teachers are in the process of obtaining their Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education. We also like to hire high school seniors who are interested in working with young children, to help more one on one time. They are great role models and are an extra set of hands when needed to work in the school age programs.
Each classroom is equipped with a computer. The computer software is used to enhance the curriculum goals and objectives.
Each center designates space for homework and a staff member sits with the children and assists them in completing the work. The staff members will review the child’s assignment journal and initial completion when the child has finished the work. Parents have the opportunity to tell us if they require their child to do their homework at the center or if they would like to do the homework when the child gets home.
Meals are provided to children who attend Child Development Centers, Inc. We participate in the federal food program just like a school district. Children are served nutritious meals and snacks with the appropriate amount of grain, protein, vegetables and fruit. Milk is served with every meal. Parents receive a monthly menu that shows the daily meal plans.
Each center has an on-site playground for the children. Outdoor play is very important for the child’s health and well being and is a key part of their day. Additionally, it is important for children to see their community, so daily walks are encouraged.
Child Development Centers, Inc also offers transportation. Transportation is included in the tuition. Child Development Centers, Inc. picks up at the area schools and delivers the children to the designated center.
Camp Funshine runs from the second week in June till the last week in August at Child Development Centers, Inc. School Age Centers in Franklin, Hasson Heights and Cranberry locations. The center is open from 6 am – 6 pm, Monday through Friday, and offers various activities geared toward educational enrichment and recreation. Breakfast, lunch and snack are provided free to each child.
The summer activities include swimming, field trips and walking excursions to various parks and playgrounds in town. They also have a "School’s Out Party," a Camp Carnival, a Bake/Yard Sale, and an "End of Summer Party."
In August, the last week of summer, the children participate in Camp Olympics. Camp Olympics is an event where the kids compete against each other in running, long jump, kick ball and many other track events. Hasson Heights School Age Center, Cranberry School Age Center and Franklin School Age Center all participate. For each event that is won, the children will receive medals and t-shirts that they have designed themselves and a participation certificate. A traveling trophy is given to the center who wins the relay event.
